Service before Self! The younger students in kindergarten through second visited The Home for Men and made holiday themed placemats for the residents of the retirement home, located just a few blocks away from the school. The children will return again closer to Valentine’s Day to distribute homemade cards to the residents.
The Central Catholic Freshman Class of ‘22 takes to the stage to kick off Catholic Schools Week! Knights on the Red Carpet featured an all freshman cast… actors, musicians, greeters, concession stand workers and set design! The audience enjoyed four acts rooted in Broadway plays! Freshmen Lead to Succeed!
At St. Vincent de Paul Parish School … it all started with a STAR Mass where students, teachers, administrators and religious gathered with school families and parishioners. Students and teachers realize how “Lucky” they are to have each other! Bags of lucky Charms were distributed at the end of a dance party! The week also included a visit from alumni attending Central Catholic, a 7th grade vs. 8th grade basketball game and the highlight of the week teachers vs the 8th grade in volleyball!
Our students visited Fitzwaters Personal Care Home for a craft activity, served meals at the Soup Opera, participated in Crazy Hair Day, Crazy Sock Day and Hat Day to collect shampoo, socks, and personal hygiene items for our friends at the Soup Opera and Union Mission and painted pottery for the Empty Bowls Project to raise money and awareness on hunger in Marion County. Father JoJan celebrated mass with us.
